西安是一座历史十分悠久的城市，也是中华文明的起源地之一。她与埃及的开罗、意大利的罗马、希腊的雅典并称世界四大古都。

西安原名长安，意思是长治久安。因为其独特的地理位置与自然环境，受到历代帝王的青睐，前后共有十三个王朝在西安建都。

XianwasoriginallycalledChangan,whichmeans“long-lastingsecurity”.Becauseofitsuniquegeographicallocationandnaturalenvironment,itwasfavouredbytheemperorsofthepast.Atotalof13dynastiesestablishedtheircapitalsinXian.

其中比较强盛的有秦、西汉与唐。这三个历史时期给西安甚至整个中国留下了深远的影响。
